éS Game of SKATE (3pm Wednesday, June 20th 2007)

On Wednesday, June 20th at 3pm, skaters from all around Portland came to test their skills at the éS Game of SKATE. The game took place at MLC (Metropolitan Learning Center) on NW Glisan St. near the PDX EXIT shop on a near perfect skate day.

There was plenty of competition on hand as the skaters attempted to make their way to the final heat. 360 flips, lazer flips, and switch kickflips were just a few of the many tricks that skaters had to successfully land to advance. Local EXIT friends like Kyle, Eric Billups, Richard Hatfield, Oscar N. were there helping to hold it down, thanks for all your support fellas! We missed you Sebo, get better soon!

Big props to EXIT employee Bobby Groves for taking 1st and bringing it home! Thanks to Kevin and Kate for their help organizing the event and reminding the kids they need water, Jake for all the photos and vibes, Gabe for editing the footage, the éS guys for all the skate goods and making the game happen, and of course... all the Portland skaters!

Invented in the '70s by vertical skateboarding legends Lance Mountain, Neil Blender and John Lucero, and then adopted by street skaters in the 1980s, the Game of SKATE has been championed into the mainstream by top skateboarding brand éS Footwear. Today, the éS Game of SKATE is the ORIGINAL street skateboarding competition.

In its fourth year of tournament competition, the Game of SKATE's popularity among the skateboarding community has exploded. It is now the top contest format, being played by professional skaters such as Paul Rodriquez, Tom Penny, Mike Carroll, Bastien Salabanzi, Arto Saari, Geoff Rowley, Mark Appleyard, Jamie Thomas, Andrew Reynolds, Javier Sarmiento and many more.

éS Game of SKATE rules, schedule, and photos from previous years.
