Originally known as Soul Artists of Zoo York, Zoo York started in the 1970s with a group of graffiti artists in New York from Riverside Park on the Upper West Side of Manhattan.

Zoo York is an American company founded by Marc Ecko that manufactures skateboards and fashion apparel. The designs on most of their shirts and hoodies reflect the old Zoo York Tunnel graffiti and style.  Its name originates from a subway tunnel running underneath the area of the Central Park Zoo. This tunnel, called the Zoo York Tunnel, or simply "Zoo York," was a haunt of very early "old school" graffiti writers who hung out with the hippies around the Central Park Bandshell in the late-1960s and 1970s.
