Conference Call: David Reyes

By Eric Wall
Age: 19
Birthplace: Yonkers, NY
Currently Residing: Denver, Co
Sponsors: Rvca, Foundation, C1RCA, Thunder, Spitfire, 303 boards
Who would have thought that you would have came this far in skateboarding?
The sky I think.
Tell us all how it began.
One Birthday I got a board. Two years later or something like that I got on 303. Before that I knew Angel, we both liked the 303 crew. The tetras would give us their old boards and we had boards like that. Angel got hooked up. Took me in. Got me on foundation. Then one thing led to another.
At what age did you first get a skateboard?
9.

Who were some of the people who helped you learn how to skateboard?
Everyone has been an influence to me. I watched other people skate. Learned what they had and would ask them where they put their feet and all that great stuff.
Ok so once you started getting hooked up with free skateboard product I’m sure you were still in school. Did you graduate or at what grade did you decide to completely go for skating?
I actually made a bold move when I was just getting like rep flow this and that, then said screw it and went to California with 50 bucks in my pocket. Again, one thing led to another and I found my self at hell rose.
What is the best part about getting paid to skateboard?
I’m on my own schedule. The only thing is I find fun schedules and it doesn’t flow right. I have to get on the right one and after that things flow like wine.
In the new RVCA promo video you share a part with somewhat unknown Julian Davidson. Can you tell us a little about him?
Well, Julian is the type of kid that is down to get into anything. Why plan when the flow leads you better. I feel like if you plan things they work well but going with the flow is how Julian does it, occasionally there are those plans here and there but for the most part just seeing what happens is the route (Life extensions) takes. He's a charmer and ladies love him. He is a giving person, and just down right the best. He looks comfy on a board and his smile with brings any down person right back up.

What do you think is the most important part when coming up as a skateboarder and trying to make it?
Have fun. If you lose the fun, the obligation to do something is no fun. Just go with the flow. Except the part where you kind of got to go to California. Other then that, focus on having fun instead of feeling obligated to make it.
Tell us one thing about each of the following skateboarders that stands out in your mind:
Gareth Stehr: I walked so far!!!
Tony Tave: Lets do this, wait this, ok lets just kick it.
Abdias Rivera: SO HAPPY!
Angel Ramirez: Hey! Our phones off. Haha.
Windsor James: MAN!
If you could be anybody else in the world for one day who would you be and why?
I'll have to say................
What are a couple things you are trying to accomplish this year?
I got some stuff planned. Haha.
